A core part of our work is building the capacity of organizations in a variety of fields to articulate their contribution to the change and impact in their communities. Our model, which includes working in partnership with an expert cadre of consultants, facilitates matchmaking the organizations with a technical assistance (TA) provider who can meet their specific needs. Our work with AARP embodies this approach.
Since 2020, Success Measures has had the privilege of supporting the AARP Purpose Prize awardees by providing TA to build their evaluation capacity. The award honors extraordinary older Americans who support AARP’s mission of empowering people to choose how they live as they age.
Over the last few years, we have supported organizations doing work in a wide array of areas including K-12 afterschool programming (e.g., STEM, mental health, physical activity), mental and behavioral health, community leadership and empowerment, healthcare infrastructure, the criminal justice system and voting rights.
Kate Schineller, senior advisor at AARP, shared that this work with the Purpose Prize grantees has been immensely beneficial to recipients.
“Throughout the years we’ve worked together, our awardees have shared how Success Measures’ work was transformational to their mission. Success Measures has been an important partner in strengthening our awardees’ evaluation capacity to expand what they do, how they do it, and intentionally collecting and analyzing the data to inform and strengthen the work. We look forward to our continued partnership,” said Kate.
This year, we are excited to work with four awardees, providing coaching support focused on topics such as mental health for teens and young adults, STEM programming for underrepresented and at-risk youth and teens, and multigenerational programming to support children and families.
