AARP Purpose Prize

Success Measures is in its fourth year providing evaluation and technical assistance to some of AARP’s Purpose Prize winners and fellows — innovative individuals ages 50+ using their knowledge and experience to build a better future through their nonprofit organizations.

One of the 2022 Purpose Prize fellows, Future Smiles, provides vital oral health care to vulnerable youth throughout Southern Nevada. The organization, based in Las Vegas, was looking to better capture and maintain data so that their advocacy work could be more impactful. Working collaboratively with Future Smiles, the Success Measures team developed a dashboard that looks at year over year data, making it readily accessible to the organization leaders when they speak to government officials and policymakers. The newly created dashboard became an important advocacy tool for kids’ oral health, supplementing an existing state dashboard which had not included dental care.

In previous years, Success Measures work included creating surveys to assess the impact of educational scholarship opportunities for students in Vietnam and developing outcome measurement surveys and custom Excel analysis reports to help evaluate programs that provide resources and equipment to persons with disabilities. The evaluation team also provides access to the Success Measures Data System to organizations who choose to store and report on their evaluation findings.
